Introduction
Securing and managing funding is an on-going challenge for not-for-profit organisations. During a crisis, it can be more difficult to secure funding and comply with funding agreement terms.
Complying with fundraising laws in Australia is a complex exercise as each state and territory has its own distinct rules. Keeping up with registration and reporting requirements is time-consuming and resource intensive.
It can be even more difficult to comply with these laws during a disaster if an organisation’s operations are disrupted, the disaster leads to a shortage of staff, or records are damaged or destroyed.
To help not-for-profit organisations navigate these funding issues during disasters, we have developed practical legal resources that include:
- strategies to secure funding and comply with funding agreements
- a funding checklist
- strategies to manage complying with multiple regulatory state and territory regimes
- tips to mitigate fundraising challenges during a disaster
Use these resources to help you:

- navigate the information, practices and legislation you need to know to manage these issues, and
- take action to secure and manage funding in difficult circumstances
