New privacy laws

New Privacy Laws, including the new Australian Privacy Principles commenced in March 2014. The principles will apply to Australian government agencies, businesses and charities or not-for-profit organisations that provide health services and collect health information or have an annual turnover greater than $3 million. Non-binding APP guidelines are due for release by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in mid February 2014, with additional guides, fact sheets and resources to follow.
