Justice Connect’s Not-for-profit Law training social enterprise has just been awarded Social Traders’ certification. In attaining this certification, Not-for-profit Law joins a network of over 250 Australian social enterprises, all driven by social purpose. It’s a big tick of approval for the charity’s first social enterprise.
“We help communities thrive through face-to-face and online legal training. 100% of the profits from our enterprise are channelled back into offering free online legal resources and advice to help more not-for-profits,” said Justice Connect’s Head of Not-for-Profit Law Juanita Pope.
Social Traders is a social enterprise development organisation that established a certification scheme in 2018. To achieve certification, an enterprise must demonstrate that they hold social interests at their core, both socially and financially. Social Traders’ selection criteria ensures enterprises have a defined social purpose, derive a substantial portion of income from trade, and reinvest a least 50% of profits towards their purpose.
“We’re now proudly wearing the Social Traders certification badge on all our training materials. This mark acts as both an identifier to buyers and a conversation starter with other enterprises,” added Ms. Pope.
Not-for-profit Law has provided community groups with plain-language legal training since 2013. It offers training on a range of legal topics including managing volunteers and governance duties.
