Who we are
Justice Connect's Not-for-profit Law program provides free and affordable specialist legal help for not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises. We give community organisations the legal supports they need so that they can spend more time and energy realising their purpose. We prevent legal problems through plain language resources and education, and provide access to free lawyers when eligible organisations need specialist legal advice.
We don't stop at providing legal support to those who need it most; we advocate for better laws. Leveraging our insights, evidence and expertise, we help challenge and change laws to improve the regulatory environment for not-for-profit organisations.
We're a charity ourselves, with over 10 years of experience, so we understand the context in which not-for-profit organisations operate. For some organisations, complying with complex laws can be daunting. For others, it is prohibitively expensive. That’s why we provide timely and appropriate legal support – to help community organisations make sense of the law, stay legally compliant, thrive within complexity, and achieve good governance.
By delivering our legal services and building the capabilities of volunteers, board members and staff, we empower stronger and more effective community organisations so that they can focus on helping people in need.
