New Privacy Laws, including the new Australian Privacy Principles commenced in March 2014.  The principles will apply to Australian government agencies, businesses and charities or not-for-profit organisations that provide health services and collect health information or have an annual turnover greater than $3 million. Non-binding APP guidelines are due for release by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in mid February 2014, with additional guides, fact sheets and resources to follow. For more information on the APPs see the OAIC website.

Justice Connect member law firm, Norton Rose Fulbright, has generously made available through our website a Privacy Compliance Manual that includes a template privacy policy. To access this resource you must represent a charity or not-for-profit.

Our Privacy Page has lots of information on the new laws.
